How many people do you know have spend a zillion hours on a website and hate it?

Do you know anyone who has spent money on a website and hate it?

Who doesn’t???

It’s too bad because as the title of this blog post says, it’s just a waste of time and money.

But guess what?

It’s not that hard to put up a website (or pay someone too) that does exactly what it’s supposed to do – TELL THE WORLD WHO YOU ARE AND ATTRACT YOUR PERFECT CLIENTS!

Let’s face it, the bottom line is to get more clients. Period.

So, in my next few posts, I’m going to feature examples of websites for small businesses that do just that – get more clients.

TekMiss.com

Hey, that’s me! I’m using my website as an example for a few reasons.

  1. I was afraid to put my message out there.
  2. I thought it should be perfect, wonderful and awesome before I put it up.
  3. I got over 1 and 2 and JUST DID IT. I created a website with my own authentic message.

TekMiss Logo - version 1

First of all I had to create a logo.

I had just come off of working with mostly corporate and government clients and I wanted to change. I wanted to look softer and more open to entrepreneurs.

I went with the flower because I believe that the flower was the first point of consciousness of man kind. Do flowers HAVE to be beautiful? Do they have to come in millions of colors, sizes and shapes? No, they are beautiful for beauty’s sake. That’s cool. (I got this idea from Eckhart Tolle’s Book “A New Earth”)

On top of the flower, I put my company name in a strong font – to show I’m not all girly and soft. Then, I added my “off the wall” tag line –

“Purposeful Online Marketing – Your Website is the Window to your Soul.”

YIKES!  Was I nuts? Was I crazy?

Well, no. I had to talk myself into BEING MYSELF. The rest of the website was easy after that. I blog about things I like to blog about, while adding business tips at the same time.

And guess what? It works. I HAVE gotten hundreds of new people on my email list over the last few months, and I’ve gotten a lot of new clients.

And I enjoy working with every single one of them!

Isn’t that what we all wish for?
